The Monk Who Got Kicked in the Balls

I recently stumbled upon a video with a Shaolin monk who is repeatedly beaten in the crotch.

It is really painful to watch how a man looking akin to an office clerk first hits the monk in the neck and then kicks him several times in the balls. You can hear the worried voice of a woman behind the camera saying “No, no” seconds before the first kick lands precisely between the spread legs of the monk, but it’s too late.

To my surprise the monk doesn’t flinch. Even though some kicks seem a bit controlled, they are still full contact and would hurt pretty much any human male specimen.

This video is not the only one on the YouTube expanse that demonstrates this kind of sadomasochistic fun. Another video named “Kung Fu master shows the art of being painfully hit in the crotch” depicts a similar plot: a monk, somebody with strong legs, and I-don’t-give-a-fuck attitude of the former when he is kicked in the balls.

Curious how it’s possible, I decided to do some research on the topic. There wasn’t much information about the “art”. I found only several news articles, which resembled one another and gave very little information about the nut smashers.

The only information I could gather from these articles was that the art was apparently ancient (more than 300 years), harmless, could…
